Quality as export guarantee
Afghanistan is interested in increasing the supply of enriched flour and grain from the Kostanay region
Prospects for expansion of business cooperation were discussed by representatives of the Afghan Association of millers and the heads of the major grain-processing companies in the region.
During the meeting, which was held at the Regional Chamber of Entrepreneurs, the first thing that the guests learned was the export potential of leading enterprises of Kostanay. Almost all of them have a well-established supply chains at the Central Asian markets. For example, LLP "Assal" exports flour to Afghanistan since 1992, "Kostanai Flour" sends enriched flour last five years, LLP "Aruana 2010" sends small volumes, but it has interest to increase sales.
As it was stated by the representative of Afghan mills association Mohammad Hashim, to his country is interested at the government level to strengthen business ties with Kazakhstan. In the near future it is planned to adopt a law, according to which the imported flour will be exclusively in the form of enriched flour with essential iron and folic acid.
"We have developed a special program for food fortification, which we maintain in about thirty mills of our country. So we want Kazakhstan to supply enriched flour, which complies with the relevant product quality and information that is specified in the documents. In the face of Kostanay producers we see reliable partners who can help us to implement this program", - said Mohammad Hashim.
Guests also stressed that they are ready to buy, not only enriched flour, but good quality grain. Kostanay entrepreneurs have responded to the initiative, expressing the wish on the proposal of attractive purchase prices. In turn, Director of the Global Alliance for Nutrition of Afghanistan Vagdati Mohibullah announced a big meeting to be held in Kabul in December. It will gather about 250 traders and at B2B they will be able to discuss with potential partners the prospects of the business relationship.
