The meeting of the Business Council of Kazakhstan and Iran was held in Astana
The countries will sign an agreement in the field of veterinary medicine, shipping and tourism.
Today in Astana was held the third meeting of the Business Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the framework of the Kazakh-Iranian business forum with participation of the Minister for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan Zhenis Kasymbek, Chairman of the Board of JSC "National Holding" Baiterek" Erbolat Dosayev and First Deputy Minister of industry, mining industry and trade of Iran Mojtaba Hosrovtazh.
The sides discussed issues of further development of trade-economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Iran.
According to the head of MID RK, Iran is a key strategic partner of Kazakhstan in the Middle East, the relationships between our countries are of strategic, friendly and confidential nature. "Iran is among the countries that are important investors for Kazakhstan. Today, there are around 200 joint ventures on the territory of Kazakhstan. Our business is actively cooperating with the Iranian business in many priority sectors of Kazakhstan's economy, such as agriculture, food industry, chemical industry, energy, mining and metallurgical complex, real estate, pharmaceuticals and many others", - he said.
In addition, according to the Minister, Kazakhstan is actively working with Iran in the sphere of transport cooperation. "Just a year ago, we completed the implementation of a very large project - the construction of a new railway from Kazakhstan through Turkmenistan to Iran. Today, we can announce the start of first shipments of Chinese cargo in transit through Kazakhstan and Iran in the direction of the Persian Gulf. Today, within the frames of the Business Council, it is planned to sign the founding treaty between "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" and Iranian counterparts to establish a joint venture that will operate in the port of Bandar Abbas", - he said.
Given the importance to realize the potential of bilateral relations in the field of agriculture, according to Kasymbek, a veterinary agreement will be signed during the visit of Iranian colleagues.
The minister stressed that Kazakhstan occupies 11th place in Iran's imports and is one of the top three main suppliers of metal, barley, rapeseed and flax. Production of Kazakhstani agriculture in the total import of Iran is about 20%, he said.
"Today in Akorda will be signed five agreements, including in the field of veterinary medicine, an intergovernmental agreement on shipping, tourism, facilitation of visa procedures for tourist groups from Iran to Kazakhstan. We also plan to sign an agreement on simplification of business visas for Iranian citizens and businessmen", - added Kasymbek.
The head of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan Ayan Erenov, in turn, encouraged the guests to take advantage of the tool of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan "Atameken" - Map of regional business development.
